About lidded objects: Historically lidded vessels served both decorative and practical needs. They could be highly decorative objects, or simple containers, providing safe storage for seeds and grains. They could be displayed at a palace, or used to transport food in the hold of a ship. I like to study that tradition and reference it in my work.
